Library Membership
Eligibility for Membership
To be eligible for membership, an individual must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be a permanent resident within the Kandy Municipal Council area.
- Be employed in either the government or private sector within the Kandy Municipal Council area.
- Be enrolled as a student in a National School or an International School within the Kandy Municipal Council area.
Exception:
Individuals who do not meet the above qualifications may still be eligible for membership if they are permanent residents within a 10-mile radius outside the Kandy Municipal Council area.

Who Can Sign as a Guarantor on a Membership Application
- A member of the Kandy Municipal Council.
- A Western or Ayurvedic medical practitioner residing within city limits.
- A Permanent Resident Magistrate or a Justice of Peace within city limits.
- A person owning immovable property within city limits with an annual value of Rs. 7,500 or more.
- For students, one of the parents may act as an additional guarantor.
- For employed individuals, the head of the institution must sign as an additional guarantor.
